Ideas. Work. Community

I am the Creative Video Director at The Rock Church in San Diego, Ca. I am a motion graphic artist, videographer, director, and a photographer. I'm looking to learn from artists and share some things that I have discovered in my own journey.

With a background in photography, I wanted to capture athletes in what would feel like a moving photograph. Without the power and consistency of a strobe light/flash, we used a reflector. I worked with my friend Jim on this project. He has a great understanding of shooting DSLR video. I helped create vision on the angles and worked with the actors to get the vibe we were going for.

In post I desaturated the footage, in many cases relit the subject and atmosphere, added a mosaic for a unique texture/style, and did some typography work.

Looking back at what I did last year for Cornerstone’s Easter promo.

This was the first video I custom built the environment and designed the lighting rig. The goal was to make something a little more artistic, straight forward and simple but not literal.

Dark against light. The contrast of Jesus, white/pure and the rest of us, dark and lifeless. Not only does the paint represent blood, but the bucket is the tomb at the end. Ok, it’s weird.

Is Jesus real? If he was a real person is he a God? The God? a Liar? a Lunatic? Discussions are happening at www.jesusdilemma.com

The Rock is desperately seeking to reach out to the city of San Diego. Miles McPherson encourages everyone who sits in a seat or calls the church their home to serve relentlessly in their community. Why? Because Jesus set a new standard for social standard and interaction. This is a series that I really believe in, one where you can be upset, confused, close minded to, or all for Christ and hopefully settle the dilemma He causes in your life.

This is the promo I made for the campaign.
